Is this the end? Whoopi Goldberg set to be replaced as ABC executives push for change

Rumors are swirling that Whoopi Goldberg’s time as moderator on The View may soon come to an end.

According to insiders, ABC executives are pushing for a leadership shakeup, with executive producers reportedly eyeing Sunny Hostin as Whoopi Goldberg’s potential successor.

The-Express has given the behind the scenes, with sources claim Hostin is already being groomed to take over Goldberg’s role. A senior ABC insider told Rob Shuter’s Substack, “The writing’s on the wall.

The network knows The View needs a refresh — someone younger, more engaged, and more connected to the next generation. Sunny checks every box.”

While there hasn’t been an official announcement, subtle shifts in the show’s dynamic have become apparent. One recent example came during a conversation about sexless marriages. Goldberg abruptly cut it short, saying, “It’s early in the morning,” which some insiders interpreted as a sign of disconnect with the show’s evolving tone and audience expectations.

Although Whoopi Goldberg has been a longtime fixture on The View, reports suggest that ABC is beginning to consider the show’s future without her.

According to an inside source, “Legends age out,” noting that while the network holds a deep respect for Whoopi, plans are quietly being made for what’s next Executives are said to be subtly guiding viewers to “watch closely” as these gradual changes unfold in real time.

Adding to the speculation is Whoopi’s noticeable absence from Friday episodes. She currently only appears from Monday through Thursday, leaving her out of the week’s final broadcast.
