The former First Lady of the United States has been noticeably absent from public life for some time now — and during that time, she’s had to read a lot of rumors about her marriage and family.

Michelle Obama, the former First Lady and member of the Democratic Party, has stayed out of the spotlight for the past few months, during which many rumors have been circulating.

After making only a few brief appearances during Kamala Harris’s campaign, Barack Obama’s wife stepped away from the public eye completely.

In the meantime, gossip spread — that the former First Couple was getting a divorce, that Barack was having an affair with Jennifer Aniston, along with the usual conspiracy theories.

Now, Michelle has finally addressed this period in her life being out of the spotlight during an episode of the podcast Not Gonna Lie, where she explained one simple truth: she’s just no longer interested in politics.

“I’m so happy we’re out of the White House,” said Michelle, now 61, who served as First Lady for eight years until 2017.

“Not only am I not interested in politics in that way but the thought of putting my girls back into that spotlight when they are just now establishing themselves — we’ve done enough.”

She explained that she wants to focus on her daughters, Sasha (23) and Malia (26), and help them live a normal life — away from the spotlight of their famous parents.

“I wanted to give them freedom, to not have the whole world watching them,” Michelle said. “They still have to deal with paparazzi and figuring out who they are, trying to build their own identity. It is not easy at all.”

Will Michelle Obama eventually run for President?

Last year, while people speculated about who might replace Joe Biden in the presidential race, Michelle Obama’s name often came up, but she made it clear she has no such plans.

“When people ask me if I’d ever run, the answer is NO,” she emphasized, adding that people who keep asking don’t understand how much children have to sacrifice when their parents are in that kind of role. She also admitted that politics simply doesn’t interest her anymore.

“It’s not just that I’m not interested in politics in that way — the thought of putting my daughters back in the spotlight, now that they’re trying to grow into who they are… We’ve had enough,” Michelle said.

“They’ve done their part… It’s unthinkable. No,” the former First Lady concluded.
