American Idol finalists John Foster and Breanna Nix surprised fans with a deeply emotional duet of “Whiskey Lullaby” just days before their Nashville performance—sparking viral excitement online.

Fresh off their standout runs on American Idol Season 23—Foster as runner-up and Nix placing third—the pair reunited for a heartfelt rendition of Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss’ classic, Whiskey Lullaby. The surprise performance, posted to social media, immediately drew attention from fans who flooded the comments with praise and calls for an official release.

Foster and Nix delivered an achingly beautiful version of the ballad, combining Foster’s rich, grounded vocals with Nix’s ethereal, emotive tone. Their chemistry was undeniable, their harmonies raw and haunting, and their interpretation deeply respectful of the song’s emotional legacy.

But the reunion wasn’t only musical—it was personal. More than two weeks after the Idol finale, the two artists met up in Nashville, sharing playful moments on Instagram. “Got my good friend @officialjohnfoster & our yummy drinks,” Breanna Nix wrote in a Story. Foster responded warmly: “Glad to be back with friends like @breannanixmusic!”

They also stopped by Seacrest Studios, sharing their gratitude for the American Idol experience and posting a sweet shout-out to Ryan Seacrest. The visit stirred nostalgia—but the stage was calling again.

The duet dropped just before their June 4 Nashville performance, part of a powerhouse lineup of American Idol alums at the Wildhorse Saloon. The event featured Season 23 winner Jamal Roberts, Thunderstorm Artis, Gabby Samone, Mattie Pruitt, and others like Colin Stough, HunterGirl, Will Moseley, Wé Ani, and Ajii.

“This will be my first official appearance in Music City, which is quite the milestone!” Foster wrote on Instagram. He had just come off his first post-Idol live show at Cajun Country Jam in Louisiana.
