Bethenny Frankel Reveals Daughter Bryn’s Influence on Her Decision to Move to Florida
Bethenny Frankel, the former Real Housewives of New York City star, opened up on her podcast about how her daughter, Bryn Casey Hoppy, played a pivotal role in her decision to sell her $2.1 million Greenwich, Connecticut, mansion and move to Florida. The 54-year-old reality TV alum confirmed her move to Florida on TikTok earlier this month, and during a recent episode of her Just B podcast, she shared the deeply personal reasons behind the change.
A Life-Changing Conversation with Bryn
During the May 6 episode of Just B, Bethenny discussed a recent conversation with her 14-year-old daughter, who she shares with ex-husband Jason Hoppy. The discussion, which took place during a visit to Florida, ultimately led to Bethenny’s decision to sell her home in Connecticut.
“We were down in Florida, and something very personal transpired,” Bethenny began, admitting that she didn’t want to delve into the details of the event but revealing that Bryn had expressed a strong desire to move south. “She cried to me,” Bethenny recalled, explaining that Bryn had wanted to move to Florida for years, but the move had never seemed feasible.
At the time, Bethenny had told her daughter that the circumstances weren’t right for such a major change. “I told her, ‘We can’t move south because of a set of circumstances,’” Bethenny shared. “She had great friends and a great life where we were.”
The Turning Point: A Shift in Perspective
Bethenny reflected on how that conversation, coupled with a recent shift in her personal feelings, changed her perspective. While Bethenny had once planned to relocate to Florida after Bryn began college, she admitted that her situation with the Greenwich property had left her feeling overwhelmed. “I have been a frazzled, manic mess,” she confessed. “This f*cking house is gonna kill me. It’s the best house. It’s an amazing, extraordinary house for a family that has kids that will come home… It was a massive property, and I made the decision to buy that property when I was in a different stage of my life.”
The realization that her current home was no longer the right fit for her lifestyle became clear. “I was drowning,” she explained, expressing how the enormous property, originally purchased with the intention of hosting frequent gatherings, ended up feeling lonely instead.
From Greenwich to Florida
Bethenny’s decision to sell her Greenwich home and buy property in Florida came just weeks after this emotional conversation. “Within five weeks, [we] had sold and bought a home in both places,” she said. The new chapter in Florida is an exciting one for Bethenny, who mentioned that she would keep her apartment in New York City but was looking forward to the changes ahead.
“I’m excited for this next chapter,” she added, signaling a fresh start both for herself and her daughter. This move is not just a shift in geography but a new beginning for the family.
Bethenny’s decision to put her daughter’s wishes at the forefront of her plans speaks to the close bond they share and the importance of family in her life. What started as a simple conversation with Bryn turned into a life-altering decision, and for Bethenny, it’s a sign of embracing change and prioritizing what truly matters.
