Kyle Richards Opens Up About RHOBH and Co-Parenting with Mauricio Umansky Amid Split
As The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills wraps up its 14th season, Kyle Richards is reflecting on her time with the show and the challenges she faces both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. In a candid interview with PEOPLE, Kyle revealed how often she has considered quitting RHOBH and shared insights into her relationship with ex-husband Mauricio Umansky, with whom she continues to co-parent their daughters after their split in October 2023.
Kyle Richards Considers Leaving RHOBH
When asked if she debates quitting the show, Kyle was upfront about the emotional toll that comes with being part of RHOBH. “Yes, and sometimes mid-season,” she admitted. “It’s very difficult for your life [to be] out there and have the world weighing in on analyzing things and people not knowing the full scope of full details. And judging you without being able to explain everything, it’s very difficult.” Kyle explained that whether or not she continues with the show depends on the season and how much she feels she can handle.
Kyle has been open about the struggles she faced during season 14, stating that it wasn’t the easiest year for her. “Honestly, I didn’t watch [the season], which I don’t like saying that, because I do like to watch the show, even if — I only watch it once, normally. But I like to watch even if it’s difficult,” she shared. She also admitted that she didn’t watch the reunion, attributing it to personal challenges she was facing at the time. “What was going on in my personal life, so I just didn’t watch the reunion. I want to go back now. I see so many clips on Instagram anyway, but you feel like you see the show. But now I want to go back, now that I’m feeling a little better.”
Co-Parenting with Mauricio Umansky: “We Get Along Really Well”
Despite their separation, Kyle and Mauricio remain on good terms and continue to co-parent their daughters. Kyle shared that their friendship has played a crucial role in making their co-parenting relationship work. “Mauricio and I get along really well. You know, we both want the best for each other. We love our daughters. So we were very good friends. I have his back. He has mine,” Kyle explained.
When asked what makes their situation work, Kyle emphasized their strong friendship. “I think we’re just really good friends, and we always have been, so that came in handy. That’s one good thing out of that.”
What’s Next for RHOBH and Kyle Richards?
As fans await news on the potential for a RHOBH season 15, Kyle Richards’ future with the show remains uncertain. While she has considered stepping back due to the emotional strain, her strong connection with her daughters and her role as a prominent figure on the show keeps her tied to RHOBH. For now, fans can revisit earlier seasons of RHOBH on Peacock while eagerly awaiting updates on what’s next for Kyle and the rest of the cast.
Kyle’s openness about her personal struggles and her relationship with Mauricio has garnered sympathy from fans, showing that even the most glamorous lives come with their own set of challenges.
