Tyrus welcomes someone he’s very familiar with on the latest episode of Maintaining With Tyrus, and that is fellow Gutfeld! regular Kat Timpf.

The two covered a lot of ground during their chat, but one thing they touched on is a subject that a lot of people have experienced over the years as politics continues to polarize.

Tyrus started by talking about how Timpf — as much as she works — manages to maintain a social life.

“Who you’re friends with has nothing to do with [politics] at all,” Tyrus said. “Have you lost any friends during all of this, where someone was like, ‘I can’t believe you.’”

This phenomenon has become all too common these days, and Timpf said that she has.

“One friend, unfortunately,” she said. “Which it’s so stupid. It’s sad.”

Tyrus — like any rational person — highlighted the insanity of cutting off a legitimate friend over how they voted. It is insane, but it happens, and as Timpf noted, her political views hadn’t even changed.

“Again, it was the same views that I’ve always had,” Timpf said. “It’s not new, it’s just that Trump broke a lot of people’s brains, I think.”

“Is it Trump that breaks brains or is it just that media stopped being media and just became a gossip column?” Tyrus asked, noting that things would be different if the news was simply the news. “I shouldn’t know how if an anchor likes presidential candidates, correct?

“Because we’re comedians and we make jokes, but we make fun of everybody. Don’t you think that when it comes to the news you shouldn’t know the reporter’s political beliefs.”

Timpf agreed.

“Yeah, I think it’s also what broke people’s brains is what my new book’s about: the binary thinking of, ‘this or that, and if you’re not with me on this, then you’re against me on everything,’” she added. “I think That’s so harmful.
