In his book Special Heart, Bret reflects, “For me, it was a whirlwind weekend reminiscent of a Hollywood romance, and I had the time of my life. It’s safe to say I was completely enchanted, utterly head over heels for Amy within the first five minutes of our conversation.”In 2004, Amy and Bret were introduced on a blind date by a mutual friend during a Rolling Stones concert. This friend seemed to possess an intuitive understanding of romance, as the two quickly formed a strong connection. In his book, Special Heart, Bret reminisces about their early days together, highlighting the joy of “talking, laughing, and bantering” with Amy.

At the time they began their relationship, Bret was frequently traveling for work assignments in Washington D.C. and internationally, while Amy resided in Chicago. Despite the distance, he made the effort to visit her regularly.

After just one year of dating, Bret realized that Amy was his soulmate and proposed to her on Thanksgiving in 2003. He had gathered their families for a dinner, and during this special occasion, he asked for her hand in marriage, to which she happily agreed. They celebrated their wedding on October 9, 2024.

Together, Bret and Amy are parents to two children. Eager to expand their family, they welcomed their first son, Paul Francis Baier, on June 29, 2007. Tragically, Paul required significant heart surgery just one day after his birth due to identified congenital defects. Since then, he has undergone multiple surgeries and continues to manage the challenges of heart disease.

In his book, Bret reflects on the pivotal moment that altered their family’s trajectory.

“Then Dr. Martin delivered the words that have echoed in my mind every day since: ‘if your son doesn’t have surgery within the next two weeks, he’s not going to make it.’ My mouth went dry instantly, and I felt as though I couldn’t breathe. Time seemed to freeze.” As Paul was taken for surgery as a fragile infant, Bret remembers, “I noticed Amy tensing up, and I turned to her, saying, ‘it’s time to entrust him to the doctors and the higher power.’”

On July 10, 2010, Paul was joined by his younger brother, Daniel Bret Baier, as Amy and Bret continued to grow their family.

Amy actively raises funds for children’s health initiatives, while Bret serves as the anchor for one of Fox News’ prominent programs. Together, they navigate the challenges and joys of parenthood.
