Rachel Campos-Duffy’s Emotional Plea: “Don’t Abort Your Baby—My Daughter With Down Syndrome Changed Our Lives Forever”

Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy is no stranger to heartfelt discussions on air, but her recent appearance on Fox & Friends alongside her youngest daughter, Valentina StellaMaris Duffy, struck an emotional chord with viewers around the nation.

In honor of National Down Syndrome Day, Campos-Duffy opened up about her personal journey as a mother to a child with Down Syndrome—delivering a powerful message that stunned fans and sparked waves of support.

“She’s the Sweetest, Most Perfect Thing We’ve Ever Seen”

Rachel, 52, appeared on-air with 4-year-old Valentina, who joyfully waved to the audience and showed off her pilates skills—learned through physical therapy—while playing with co-host Ainsley Earhardt in a heartwarming moment of pure joy.

But behind the smiles was a message that cut straight to the heart.

“So many children with Down Syndrome are being exterminated in the womb,” Rachel stated. “I think that when people get to meet them and see how wonderful they are, we are going to see less of that.”

The mother of nine shared how Valentina has transformed her family, teaching her other eight children “tolerance, patience, and compassion.”

“She is as lovely, as precious, as joyful as any other child. In fact, I’d say our family is better because of her.”

Campos-Duffy shares eight other children with her husband former congressman Sean Duffy and she said her family is better off because of Valentina

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

Valentina was born in October 2019 with two holes in her heart, a condition that required surgery. She was also born premature and had to spend time in the NICU, learning how to eat on her own.

Rachel and her husband, Sean Duffy—a former Congressman and fellow alum of MTV’s The Real World—were devastated yet determined when they learned about Valentina’s condition ahead of her birth. The diagnosis prompted Sean to resign from Congress to focus on his family.

“Recently, we’ve learned that our baby, due in late October, will need even more love, time, and attention due to complications, including a heart condition,” Sean announced in 2019.
“It is not an easy decision – because I truly love being your Congressman – but it is the right decision for my family, which is my first love and responsibility.”

Fighting Fear With Faith

Rachel acknowledged the fear many parents feel upon receiving a prenatal Down Syndrome diagnosis—and how the medical community can often make that fear worse.

“There’s a lot of fear around it. Even the medical community can make people scared and say, ‘Well, you have options.’ But these children are just like any other. Yes, there are challenges—maybe heart issues or thyroid conditions—but all of that is treatable.”

Valentina’s journey has been anything but easy, but her presence has been a blessing to the Duffy family.

“She’s everyone’s favorite,” Rachel smiled. “She lights up every room.”

A Family Built on Love and SacrificeRachel Campos-Duffy appeared on Fox & Friends with four-year-old Valentina StellaMaris Duffy to raise awareness on National Down Syndrome day

Rachel and Sean, who met during their time on MTV’s reality shows in the late ’90s, married in 1999 and have since built a large, faith-driven family.

Sean served as a U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 7th District until his resignation in 2019—showing the depth of his commitment not just to public service, but to his wife and children.

The couple’s devotion to Valentina, and to each other, is evident. Rachel continues to use her platform to advocate for children with special needs, urging other parents to look beyond fear and see the incredible beauty in children like Valentina.

A Message That Resonates

As Valentina twirled around the Fox & Friends studio, laughter in her eyes and joy in her step, Rachel’s message hit home for many:

“When you meet children with Down Syndrome, when you truly see them—you understand. They are not a burden. They are a gift.”

Her words are a reminder that life doesn’t always go according to plan—but sometimes, the detours lead to the most extraordinary love stories of all.
