“I wanted a baby so badly, but it wasn’t working out,” Earhardt wrote. “I saw pregnant women everywhere and felt an overwhelming sense of despair. Why wasn’t it happening for me?”

Her struggle was compounded by her career’s demands, which left her feeling like she couldn’t pause her life for the waiting and uncertainty of starting a family. Still, she pushed forward. After eight painful months of miscarriage attempts and heartbreak, Earhardt finally received the joyous news that she was pregnant.

The emotional rollercoaster didn’t stop there, though. The happiness she felt at hearing her baby’s heartbeat quickly turned to devastation when, at a follow-up appointment, the doctor could not find a heartbeat.

“I had to have an operation to remove my lifeless baby,” she recalled. “I felt despair knowing my child and I would be permanently separated.”

A Second Chance at Motherhood and the Collapse of Her Marriage

Despite the heartbreak, Earhardt did not give up. She eventually became pregnant again and welcomed a healthy baby girl in 2018. It was a much-needed moment of joy after years of struggle. But while Earhardt’s personal life had shifted toward happiness with the arrival of her daughter, her marriage was unraveling behind the scenes.

In 2018, after six years of marriage, Ainsley and William Proctor announced their separation. The reasons behind their decision were unclear, but sources close to the couple speculated that Proctor’s infidelity played a part. Proctor firmly denied these allegations, expressing disappointment that such personal matters became public. He said he was devastated by the split but wanted to remain on good terms with Earhardt for the sake of their daughter.

Despite the painful end to her marriage, Earhardt carried on with a sense of grace. She chose to focus on her daughter and her work, determined not to let the collapse of her marriage define her.

Loss of a Mother and Navigating Tragedy

Just when it seemed like things couldn’t get more difficult, Earhardt faced yet another heartbreaking blow. In 2020, her mother, Dale Earhardt, suffered a devastating stroke. Dale, already battling serious health issues, including diabetes, kidney disease, and high blood pressure, was left unable to speak, walk, or breathe on her own.

The prognosis was grim, but Dale showed resilience. She fought to recover, and Ainsley stood by her side through it all. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Ainsley feared for her mother’s health once more, knowing that her immunocompromised mother had to visit the hospital frequently for dialysis.

Sadly, in 2022, Dale passed away. Earhardt’s grief was palpable, but she remained composed as she honored her mother’s life on air.

“We’re just grateful that we know her faith was strong,” she said tearfully, “and we know where she is—she’s with Jesus. She loved the Lord, and we’re proud of her.”

In that moment, she broke down. It was only when one of her co-hosts remarked that her mother would be proud of her that Earhardt truly allowed herself to grieve.
