“She whispered, this is where no one can find me.” Ellen DeGeneres leaves fans speechless after revealing her $30 million English estate – a secluded dreamland she shares with Portia de Rossi, hidden far from Hollywood noise and the legal storms she’s quietly escaping.
Ellen’s once-bustling world of cameras and comedy has been replaced by soft rain, sprawling gardens, and quiet laughter echoing through stone halls. The estate, tucked deep within the English countryside, has become her personal fortress of calm. Sources close to the couple describe it as a “rebirth” – a place where Ellen rises before sunrise, paints by the window, and walks barefoot through endless fields, far from controversy and whispers of lawsuits. Fans are calling it her “invisible chapter,” wondering if the talk show queen is done with fame for good or simply rewriting her story from behind closed gates.
Step beyond the ivy-covered walls and uncover what Ellen is really hiding – full story below.
Ellen DeGeneres has opened the doors to her very modern and massive mansion in England after fleeing the US last year.
The former talk show host, who was canceled in 2020 after numerous ‘toxic workplace’ claims came to light, showed off her Cotswolds home while filming her dogs Sport and Kid chasing each other.
The 67-year-old comedienne shares the stunning dwelling with her 52-year-old actress wife Portia de Rossi of Ally McBeal fame.
There is an open floor plan as the kitchen, dining room and living room are one. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a generous view of the lush green backyard on an overcast day.
The overall color palette inside the house – which has been estimated to cost around $30 million – was ivory and a matte mocha latte beige.
The decor is understated with a tiled dining room table and eight leather chairs; a glass coffee table; and lounge chair that sit on muted gray and ecru rugs.

Also spied are piles of hardback books on Africa, interior design and art work, as well as a horse sculpture.
‘They’ve finally figured it out. We’ve all been sad since losing Augie,’ DeGeneres wrote in the caption, referring to their rescue dog who died in May.
‘Sport has brought so much joy into the house and it makes us so happy to see Kid play again, even though he has a very unique style of play.’
There is plenty of land to roam on.
And animals are everywhere: There are horse stalls, a chicken coop and wandering sheep that help cut the grass.
The video comes a year after DeGeneres and de Rossi left the U.S. and relocated to England in the fall of 2024.
The TV personality and actress moved to rural England, and they reportedly have no plans to return to the US.
A person close to the former Ellen Show host claimed that she and de Rossi were primarily skipping town in response to the 2024 presidential election, which saw Donald Trump win a second non-consecutive term.
The couple bought a home on 43 acres in the Cotswolds, a rural portion of Southwest England that is about 100 miles from London.
They fixed up the place, named Kitesbridge Farm, then sold it for $30 million after experiencing problems with flooding.
Then they bought a new, much more modern house. It is is perched on a hilltop on the edge of a village in Oxfordshire. The cost is estimated to be around $30 million for the new property.
‘When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses. We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them,’ said DeGeneres recently.

The area is popular with celebrities looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of London.
Ellen and Portia will have plenty of celebrity neighbors. Among the stars with properties in the Cotswolds are David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, Elizabeth Hurley, Jeremy Clarkson and Damien Hirst, among many others.
The area is even home to royalty, as King Charles owns Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
Kate Winslet has also had a mansion in the area at one point, though it’s unclear if she still lives there, and Hugh Grant has been rumored for years to have a small hideaway in the Cotswolds.
In the fall of 2024, DeGeneres and de Rossi were spotted visiting Clarkson’s pub in the Cotswolds.

DeGeneres seen on her popular talk show that ended in May 2022
Despite reportedly leaving the US because of the election and Donald Trump’s looming second administration, DeGeneres had plenty of reasons for a new start away from home.
Her career was tarnished — likely permanently — by accusations that she fostered a toxic workplace on the set of her eponymous daytime talk show, which aired its last episode on May 26, 2022.
She delved into her persona non grata status on her stand-up special For Your Approval, which was released on Netflix in late September.
The comedian joked that she had been ‘kicked out of show business’ in the special, which featured material about how she has been spending her time since the end of her TV show.
