CNN viewers were surprised to see Scott Jennings, the 47-year-old conservative political strategist and familiar face on the network, announce a temporary departure.

Jennings, who is known for his regular contributions to CNN, took to Instagram this Monday to let his followers know he’d be taking a break from television as he embarks on a personal journey through Israel. He posted a collection of photos, including one where he dons a white Kippah while standing before what seems to be a rock formation, and others capturing moments inside a religious site and him reading a small book.

Alongside the images, he wrote: “Friends – will be off TV this week as I journey through Israel. Already, what I’ve seen has been incredibly moving as a Christian and as a defender of the Jewish people and the Nation of Israel.” Scott’s trip appears to be a deep dive into the religious and cultural aspects of the western Asian nation, and it also seems to signal his support for Palestine amid the ongoing conflict with Gaza.

His followers quickly filled the comments section with messages. One, @jennifernickens05, said, “Safe travels for you! I won’t be watching until you return.” The Mirror US reports. Another, @steffanweston, expressed local pride: “Scott, as a Louisville resident, let me say you are making us proud! Keep battling for common sense. ” While @cmess425 added, “God bless Scott. I just told my husband that we need to also plan a trip there.”

“Thank you for your continued support of Israel and the Jewish people,” user @sarfeldman expressed, a sentiment echoed by user @rabbitzeusytheallmighty, who posted: “Scott you are the definition of a Mensch! Thank you for everything you do! Enjoy the most magical place on earth! ! !”.

Another fan, @totallyher_ch, chimed in with praise, stating: “Thank you for your support. You’re the only sane voice on CNN,” while @thebabecavevintage enthused: “WE LOVE and appreciate you so much Scott! Thank you for your fearless moral clarity and for constantly speaking up for us (jews and Civilized Americans who love this country) … Baruch Hashem for people like you! ! ! !”.

According to Scott’s post, he is expected to be back at his CNN desk by next Monday.

This follows an incident in which the CNN commentator was taken aback when he first met President Donald Trump at the White House and received the compliment, “You look terrific.”

Scott recounted this encounter during a public speaking event promoting his new book, A Revolution of Common Sense: How Donald Trump Stormed Washington and Fought for Western Civilization.

The book delves into Trump’s re-election campaign through interviews with the president and his close associates.

Despite having publicly discussed Trump numerous times throughout his career, Scott revealed that he only met the president for the first time in February.

“It’s funny he’s dominated almost my entire professional existence for the last decade and all my conversations, but I hadn’t met him until February,” Scott joked during his address.

He shared how their initial encounter took place in the Oval Office, greeted by a host of Trump’s cabinet members. Mimicking the former president, Jennings humorously recounted, “I walk in and he looks up from the Resolute Desk and he says, ‘You look terrific. I mean you look good on TV, but in person you look terrific, have a seat.’”.

Scott then described how he casually “plopped down” on the iconic Oval Office sofa beside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
