Michael Strahan shares ‘final walk’ as he bids emotional goodbye

Michael Strahan enjoyed one last walk in Good Morning America’s Times Square studio before the talk show relocated to its new set.

After departing his role as game host of ‘The $100,000 Pyramid,’ Strahan appears to be on the verge of inking a contract extension with ‘Good Morning America.’

 

 

Last week, Strahan bid an emotional farewell to the show’s home studio of nearly 26 years. Good Morning America first aired an episode from the Times Square location on Sept. 13, 1999.

Ahead of the bittersweet move to Hudson Square in downtown New York City, Strahan took a final lap around the set — during which he interacted with many of his coworkers while providing viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the dressing room and storage areas.

“The final walk at GMA Times Square studio,” he captioned the post. “Time to commute downtown.”

In a separate clip, Strahan shed light on several of the photos and trinkets he accumulated in the studio while clearing out his office.

“I’m going to invite you in while I pack up some of my stuff that I’ve accumulated here in my dressing room over my years here at GMA,” he began. “You know, my dressing room is kind of a mess. It’s a lot of stuff in here.

“You don’t realize how much you accumulate until you’ve got to pack it up. But, you know, obviously for me, the biggest thing would be pictures. I have so many great memories here in pictures.”

One of the pictures was of Strahan and former New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin alongside a note from his wife’s funeral. “This is me and Tom Coughlin at his J-Fun Foundation,” Strahan said.

“And I always keep the card from his wife, Judy, who unfortunately passed away. So I keep that because this man changed my life and she changed him, made it better for all of us. So, I love the Coughlins.”

Later on, Strahan showed off a custom bobble head, a Snoop Dogg snow globe and Moai. “One of my favorite things of all, my bobble head,” he said. “But my friend Gary, who’s retiring this year, gave me the bobble head, but he put his face on it.

“This is actually a life size of Gary. It’s small for me, but it’s a life size Gary. It’s very important that people know that. And then I have a snow globe of Snoop Dogg. I have no idea why this is here.”

“This was made by someone on Easter Island and given to me as a gift when we were out there for a story covering microplastics in the ocean and the effects that it’s having on the rest of the world,” Strahan added of the Moai.

“The most inhabited remote island on the planet. Really incredible time we had there.”
