Seconds later, she dropped a scathing remark that drew gasps from the press pool. Some aides say they’ve never seen a press secretary snap like this. What exactly triggered her fury? And was it truly spontaneous—or part of a brewing storm no one saw coming?

LEAVITT
Karoline Leavitt ignored a question about Trump pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell

Karoline Leavitt held a press conference at the White House on Thursday at 1 pm and blatantly ignored a question about President Trump pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell.

“Will the president consider pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell if the Epstein case is a hoax?” a reporter asked Leavitt as she stood at the podium. Leavitt appeared to have heard the question, as the reporter seemed to be the loudest person in the room at the moment, but ignored it.

Instead of answering the question, Leavitt stuck out her arm, gestured to another reporter, and said “Elizabeth, Elizabeth, go ahead” while speaking over the reporter who asked the question. She then turned her head to the side for a quick second, before proceeding to tell Elizabeth to continue on and ask her question.

Leavitt also stated that Trump would “not recommend” a special prosecutor in the Epstein case.

The awkward moment comes after Ghislaine Maxwell’s family said she “did not receive a fair trial.”

“Our sister Ghislaine did not receive a fair trial,” Maxwell’s siblings stated.

“Her legal team continues to fight her case in the Courts and will file its reply in short order to the Government’s opposition in the US Supreme Court.”

“With all the talk about who’s being prosecuted and who isn’t, it’s especially unfair that Ghislaine Maxwell remains in prison based on a promise the US government made and broke,” stated David Oscar Marcus, Maxwell’s lawyer.

The 63-year-old female is serving a 20-year prison sentence in Tallahassee, Florida, after being found guilty in 2021 on five counts, including conspiracy, sex trafficking of a minor, and transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

On Wednesday, the Justice Department reportedly dismissed Maurene Comey, daughter of ex-FBI chief James Comey and a federal prosecutor who was involved in high-profile cases against Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jeffrey Epstein, three sources told The Associated Press.

No clear rationale for her termination was provided, one insider revealed. These individuals requested anonymity when talking to the AP due to the sensitive nature of employment discussions.

A seasoned attorney with the Southern District of New York, a prestigious branch of the Justice Department, Maurene Comey’s notable work included the sex trafficking case against Epstein, who died by suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial.
