White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been labeled “anti-American” after she called on ABC News to take action against journalist Terry Moran’s “unacceptable” criticism of the Trump administration.

Moran on Sunday said in a since-deleted social media post that White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller was a “world-class hater” whose “bile” is his “spiritual nourishment.” He also described President Donald Trump as a “world-class hater” whose own “spiritual nourishment” was “his own glorification.”

ABC News suspended Moran on Monday, pending further evaluation. The network said in a statement that it “stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others.”

It comes after Leavitt described the journalist’s post as “unhinged” and urged the network to take action.

“This is unhinged and unacceptable. We have reached out to @ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable,” she wrote on X.

Journalists, including former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, slammed Leavitt’s post, describing her as “anti-democracy.”

“Miller and Trump are everything Moran described,” he wrote on X.

“And this anti-democracy anti-American @PressSec needs to stick to her lane – covering-up the emergence of a dictatorship – and leave truth, journalism, and freedom of the press to those with souls – like Terry Moran.”

Cybersecurity expert Robert Graham accused Leavitt of trying to “censor” Moran, saying, “This is not the ‘free-speech presidency,’ but quite the opposite.”

The controversy comes weeks after Moran interviewed Trump, with the journalist praised for his hard-hitting questions.

Vice President J.D. Vance said Moran’s post was “dripping with hatred.”

Miller said Moran’s “full public meltdown” exposed the media.

“For decades, the privileged anchor and reporters narrating and gatekeeping our society have been radicals adopting a journalist’s pose. Terry pulled off his mask.”
