Jesse Watters Sparks Outrage With Controversial Claim Linking Screen Time to Femininity—Critics Call It Sexist, Fox News Stands by Its Star Amid Mounting Backlash
Fox News host Jesse Watters is once again at the center of controversy after declaring on-air, “When you sit behind a screen all day, it makes you a woman. Studies have shown this.” The comment, delivered with his trademark smirk, has ignited a wave of backlash from viewers, gender rights advocates, and media watchdogs who accuse Watters of perpetuating outdated and sexist stereotypes. While critics demand accountability, Fox News has yet to issue a formal response, sparking further debate over where the network draws its lines.

Fox News’ Jesse Watters said it “makes you a woman” when you “sit behind a screen all day,” during a discussion with his fellow co-hosts on “The Five” about whether President Donald Trump’s tariffs could be “the ultimate testosterone boost” and bring back a more “manly” workforce of Americans “working with their hands.”
“Jesse, you said in the green room the crisis in masculinity began with the first male flight attendant. Can you elaborate?” Watters’ fellow show panelist Greg Gutfeld teased toward the end of the conversation.
“It’s stewardess, Greg,” Watters replied. “They will always be stewardesses. Even if it’s a male flight attendant, I still, I say, ‘stewardess!’ They don’t respond, usually.”
“When you sit behind a screen all day, it makes you a woman. Studies have shown this. Studies have shown this!” Watters continued, prompting laughter from the group. “If you’re out working, like building robots, like Harold [Ford Jr.], you are around other guys, you’re not around HR ladies and lawyers that gives you estrogen.”
“What do you do?” fellow Fox personality Jeanine Pirro asked incredulously.
“Let me finish, judge!” Watters jokingly demanded.
“You sit behind a screen!” Pirro added.
