On Monday, December 16, Jeopardy! shared a post on the show’s official Instagram page, featuring a selfie of Ken, 50.

“Ken’s ready for the new season of #CelebrityJeopardy!, are you? Watch the season premiere January 8 at a NEW TIME, 9/8c on ABC, and stream on Hulu!” the caption said.

Ken will officially be hosting the next season of Celebrity Jeopardy! It was a spot that Mayim Bialik previously held in 2022. Ken replaced her as host in season 2 and up until now, it was still uncertain if he would be returning for season 3.

Fans left comments on the Instagram post celebrating the fact that Ken is returning as host.

“Oh I’m so relieved to hear it’s Ken hosting! Yay!!!” one person wrote.

“He’s a terrific host, very personable, quick with his comments, funny, and, of course, super smart!” another person said.

“Honestly, the only one who should be the host after Alex. Ken is a class act man,” another person commented.

Ken split Jeopardy! hosting duties with Mayim after Alex Trebek’s death. Mayim, 49, exited the show in December 2023. The game show alum has been the sole host ever since.

“Doing such a wonderful job!” another person said, while a commenter wrote, “If Ken is ready, I am ready.”

Jeopardy! Makes Major Announcement About Ken Jennings

Ahead of the new season of Celebrity Jeopardy! producer Sarah Whitcomb Foss teased what’s to come.

“If I was describing Celebrity [Jeopardy!] I would say ‘great gameplay,” she said during an episode of the “Inside Jeopardy” podcast. “And that may not be something people are used to associating with Celebrity Jeopardy! but really, it was great gameplay.”

Executive producer Michael Davies also chimed in about whether or not there will be any format changes to say, “Jeopardy!, when this is an evenly matched game, always works.”

Though Ken has been warming up to the hosting position over the past few years, the former software engineer has been putting in the work to establish himself as the program’s lead.

“He’s desperate to make it work and has no intention of leaving of his own accord,” an insider previously told Closer in August 2024. “Ken’s well aware of the noise and tittle-tattle, and privately he would acknowledge these are tough times — especially with Colin Jost coming on to host Pop Culture Jeopardy! and fans calling him awkward, which is hard to take.”

“But he’s insisting there’s a share of blame here. He doesn’t write the lines or pick the questions and contestants, and won’t be made a scapegoat!” the source added.

Despite making some minor blips on the game show, Ken is looking ahead.

“He won’t take this treatment. He’s calling on bosses to be more supportive and warning people not to trip him up,” the insider said. “Ken doesn’t understand why viewers think this is all his fault, because it’s not. He believes others need to take responsibility. He’s done playing Mr. Nice Guy!”
