“I wasn’t supposed to say that” — Today show ANCHOR accidentally spills behind-the-scenes SECRETS live on air, leaving co-hosts stunned and producers scrambling to cut the feed before more slipped out

A live segment on the Today show took a chaotic turn when one of the anchors let something slip—something they clearly weren’t supposed to reveal. With cameras rolling, the anchor casually dropped a behind-the-scenes secret that caught everyone off guard. The look of panic from the control room was visible as producers scrambled to regain control. Co-hosts laughed nervously, unsure whether to acknowledge the moment or move on. What was said, and why are insiders now whispering about possible fallout?

Check out the full moment that has fans replaying the clip and asking—was it really just a mistake?

NBC’s Today Show is known for its family of popular stars, ranging from journalists to TV personalities who have kept viewers entertained over the years.

From fan-favorite journalists like Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin to pop culture figures like Al Roker, Jenna Bush Hager and Carson Daly, the NBC News morning show welcomed some big names onto the sofa who have all indeed left their mark with both viewers and their co-stars, to say the least.

This was evident on the latest installment of the show, when Carson, 52, sat down to introduce the Pop Start news segment in the second hour of Today, joined by Craig, Dylan Dreyer and Laura Jarrett.

The host awkwardly slipped up, however, when introducing a podcast hosted by one of the show’s most recognizable former anchors, Hoda Kotb, before quickly realizing his error.

“Hoda’s not here, I don’t know where she is,” he said as his co-star’s erupted into a roar of laughter. “I think she’s on vacation still,” he sarcastically added.

Laura chimed in on the blunder by joking that she was still “making space,” and Carson admitting, “she’s making space, she’s made a lot of space Laura.” After 17 years on the show and nearly three decades at NBC News, Hoda announced she was stepping away from her role.

Opening up about her decision in September, when she officially announced her plans to leave, the mother-of-two explained that she has been thinking long and hard about the decision.

She wrote in a letter to her colleagues, “I’ve been weighing this decision for quite a while – Am I truly ready? But, my 60th birthday celebration on the Plaza felt like a shift.

“Like a massive, joyful YES, you are! I saw it all so clearly: my broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie.

“I will miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited,” she concluded. The 60-year-old’s last day was January 10, 2025, and she ended her final episode with a message of gratitude and optimism for the future.

In the final minutes of the program, she and her now-former co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, stood onstage with the entire show staff. “This is our longtime staff, our incredible crew, our producers. They all came. They’re all here. This is the crew that when you walk in the room, they say ‘Good morning,’ lift you up,” she said.

She also gave a special shoutout to the show’s executive producer, Talia Parkinson-Jones, whom she called “the best hire that NBC made.”
