“I can’t believe I just said that” – Dana Perino’s jaw-dropping ON-AIR blunder leaves America’s Newsroom guests frozen, sparks stunned gasps across the studio, and ignites a firestorm of speculation over what really caused her shocking slip-up
It was supposed to be a routine segment on rising crime in Washington, D.C. Instead, viewers watched as Dana Perino’s confident delivery suddenly derailed in spectacular fashion. Mid-introduction, she fumbled a line so unexpectedly that her own sharp intake of breath was matched by audible gasps from others in the studio. Witnesses say the atmosphere shifted instantly – laughter and whispers mixing with a palpable sense of disbelief. Was it simply a slip of the tongue, or did Perino reveal something she never meant to say? The look on her face told its own story, but the moments that followed only deepened the mystery.
See exactly what happened, how her co-hosts scrambled to recover, and why this may be the most talked-about broadcast moment of the year.

A Fox News anchor let out a shriek after making a cringeworthy on-air mistake with one of the network’s contributors.
Dana Perino, co-host of America’s Newsroom, was bringing in two contributors to discuss ongoing crime in Washington, D. C., when she incorrectly stated that Lydia Moynihan was employed by The New York Times instead of The New York Post.
She realized her error a moment later and yelled out to fix it, causing everyone on the panel to burst into laughter. She said, “Joining us now is Lydia Moynihan. She’s a financial correspondent for the New York Times, I’m sorry, excuse me, New York Post, and Noah Rothman is a senior writer for the National Review.”

She added, “I felt like I was playing a game of Operation just now. Like, ‘AH! NO! Not the Times, it’s the Post!’”

Perino then moved forward by stating, “Jeanine Pirro used to be our colleague here. She’s now the D.C. U.S. Attorney. She was on our show yesterday, and she talked about victims.”
The program then aired a segment of Pirro discussing the circumstances in D. C. Perino mentioned she resided there for an extended period and revealed that she became used to “things not being great.” “This is the issue people care about,” Moynihan responded. “Not just quality of life, but truly life and death.”
This marks the second time Perino has faced an awkward on-air gaffe on Fox News this week. Yesterday, during the August 13 episode of America’s Newsroom, she also encountered an uncomfortable situation with a contributor while covering a breaking news report about crime in D.C.
She kicked off by saying, “The federal takeover of D.C. is once again pushing Democrats to grapple with the issue of law and order,” before revealing that the party’s favorability has plummeted to a record low of 73%.
However, transitioning to commentator Matt Gorman, Perino stumbled over her words and mistakenly mispronounced his name, stating, “Matt Gormer, ah ha Matt Gormer, Gorman is a former contractor for the National Republican Congressional Committee, and Yemisi Eghewole is a former chief of staff at the Biden press office.”

Perino then quipped, “Matt, I mangled your name, so I’m going to have to start with you. We noted this from Joe Scarborough, watch here.”
She then showed the commentators a clip of MSNBC’s host discussing the crime crackdown and President Donald Trump. Perino mentioned that the crime was such an issue that Gorman left the district, to which the commentator responded, “I did.” He went on to clarify, “A lot of the problem you have are teens that commit these crimes like for example carjackings are skyrocketing in D.C.
“And they know they’re untouchable, right? They know they’re not going to face consequences, and that perpetuates more of it.”
Gorman further noted that post-pandemic, his neighborhood “went downhill all the while I was paying more in rent, more in taxes, more cost of living.” He concluded by stating that teenagers have “a serious problem with consequences here.”
National Guard troops have begun flooding into Washington, D.C., following Trump’s unfounded labeling of the U.S. capital as a city devoid of law and order. Approximately 800 Guardsmen began arriving in the city on Wednesday. This development follows the Republican President’s declaration that he would assume control of the city’s police department.
Trump justified this as an emergency response to crime in the city, although officials report a significant decrease in crime rates. By evening, the administration announced that National Guard members were expected to begin patrolling the streets starting Tuesday night, according to a White House official.
The Army has stated there are no specifics on the locations they will be patrolling, according to an official who spoke anonymously for the same reason.
