Lil X at the White House: Elon Musk's son becomes the star of the Oval Office

Another day. Another executive order signed by President Trump.

This time, it was a little different, and it wasn’t Elon Musk beside Trump, adding his voice.

Instead, it was the presence of Musk’s son, X Feb. 11 in the Oval Office who stole the show and garnered reactions around the world.

Here’s what happened.

Trump signs executive order for ‘large-scale reductions in force’

Trump’s newest order directs the federal government to implement a “workforce optimization initiative” created by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, which has been moving rapidly from one department to another to slash spending and gut programs.

“It’s not optional to reduce federal expenses, it’s essential,” Musk said, as he called the federal bureaucracy an “unelected, fourth, unconstitutional branch of government” that must be held accountable.

Agency heads were ordered to “coordinate and consult with DOGE to shrink the size of the federal workforce and limit hiring to essential positions,” the White House said in a summary of the order.

The mission of the department is to work to slash federal government spending, waste and regulations. The department’s website, as of Feb. 12, consists of one sentence: “The people voted for major reform.” The agency regularly tweets on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, not Musk’s son.

Lil X joins dad Elon Musk in the Oval Office. His actions grabbed worldwide attention

Musk’s 4-year-old son, commonly known as Lil X, joined his father during the news conference in the oval office Feb. 11.

During the news conference, X was seen picking his nose, mimicking his father, whispering to Trump, telling the press to “shhh” as his father was speaking and announcing “Please forgive me, I need to pee.”

Musk has often brought his son to public events.

Social media had mixed reactions to X being in front of the cameras Tuesday with his father and Trump:
