Thunderstorm Artis: From Hawaii to the National Spotlight

Born and raised on Oʻahu’s North Shore, Thunderstorm Artis grew up steeped in music, the youngest in a family of musicians. His connection to Hawaiian culture and the spirit of island life infuses every note he sings. “No matter where I go or what stage I’m on, I always carry a piece of Hawaiʻi with me. It’s in the way I sing, the stories I tell, and the spirit I try to share that it’s the foundation of who I am as an artist and as a person,” says Artis.

Thunderstorm’s journey reached new heights when he stunned American Idol judges with his original song, “Don’t Let Me Let You Go,” a deeply personal track inspired by his marriage and growth. This heartfelt performance reintroduced him to a national audience and solidified his place as a unique and powerful voice in contemporary music.

Currently, Thunderstorm takes the stage at Blue Note Hawaii, delivering intimate and unforgettable shows that bring his musical journey full circle. With performances that weave the warmth of his home with his evolving artistry, Artis continues to captivate fans old and new alike.

The Love Story Behind the Music

Thunderstorm and Faith’s relationship began in December 2019, when she and her family visited Hawaii from Australia. After meeting at a concert where Thunderstorm performed as a special guest, their connection was instant. Just days later, Faith was invited to Thunderstorm’s birthday party, and soon after, he made a surprise trip to Australia, proposing during his five-week stay.

The couple married on April 10, 2020, right before Thunderstorm began his virtual performances for The Voice. Though their wedding was initially planned to be larger back in Australia, pandemic restrictions delayed their celebration with friends and family—still pending as of 2023.

Thunderstorm and Faith are now proud parents of two sons: Eziekel, born in June 2022, and Zion, born in September 2024.

On Instagram, Thunderstorm shared a touching caption alongside their duet video: “A family that sings together stays together. I think we need a @faithfoyartis version of this song.”
