Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons in the most unexpected ways. Not too long ago, I found myself ridiculing things that, at the time, seemed ridiculous to me. Now, here I am—living a life that’s become everything I once mocked—and, truth be told, it’s been an amazing transformation. The journey I’ve been on, especially in the last few months, has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it’s all thanks to the woman beside me, my wife Kat Timpf, and our beautiful child.
I used to be the kind of person who couldn’t fathom why others would make certain lifestyle choices. Whether it was about embracing family life, committing to a quiet, settled routine, or even how I viewed parenthood itself—these were all things I once couldn’t understand. I thought I had it all figured out, and honestly, I thought I was above the “typical” choices.
But then, everything changed. Life had other plans for me, and those so-called “ridiculous” things slowly began to draw me in. And honestly, as much as I never thought I would admit it, I’m having the best time of my life. I’ve never felt more fulfilled, more alive, or more content than I do now with Kat and our baby.
There was a time when I couldn’t imagine a life outside of my busy career and social distractions. The thought of slowing down, the thought of settling into a quieter life, was something I would have laughed off. But since meeting Kat, everything shifted. She has been a guiding light, showing me that there’s beauty and joy in the things I once took for granted. And now, I find myself immersed in a life I never imagined—one filled with laughter, love, and a sense of purpose I never knew I was missing.
Having a baby has undoubtedly been the most profound change. The instant we brought our little one into the world, everything became clearer. The sleepless nights, the joyful moments, the tiny milestones—we’ve been through it all, and each day has brought new surprises. I now find myself marveling at the simplest moments, like holding our baby’s tiny hand or seeing Kat’s face light up when our little one smiles. It’s these moments that I never would have understood if I hadn’t embraced this transformation.
Kat, too, has played such an important role in this journey. Watching her embrace motherhood with such grace and love has been a true inspiration. She’s a wonderful partner, an amazing mother, and a rock that holds our family together. I can honestly say that I’ve learned more from her in these past few months than I have from any experience in my life.
There’s a humbling realization that comes with becoming a parent. It’s like the world shifts in ways that are hard to explain, and everything else falls into perspective. The things I once thought mattered—success, independence, and the freedom I used to seek—pale in comparison to the joy and fulfillment I find in being with my family. There’s no greater feeling than watching our child grow, experiencing each day together, and realizing that this is the life I was always meant to have.
In many ways, I’m glad for this transformation. It’s opened my eyes to a world I never thought I’d be a part of. I’ve learned to appreciate what I once mocked, and I’ve learned that sometimes, the most profound joy comes from the simplest things. Having Kat and our baby by my side has made all the difference.
I’m no longer the person I once was, and for that, I’m grateful. Life has a way of surprising you, and as much as I never imagined myself in this place, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, and it feels amazing.
