Did first son, Barron Trump get rejected by Harvard University? Rumors swirl as the Ivy League school sues the Trump administration over a new ban on their ability to enroll international students.
On Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security accused Harvard of “creating an unsafe campus environment by permitting anti-American, pro-terrorist agitators to harass and physically assault individuals, including many Jewish students” and thereby revoking their ability to enroll foreign students under the F-1 visa program. Adding, that “existing foreign students must transfer or lose their legal status.”
By Friday, Harvard filed a complaint in district court claiming the Trump administration’s ban a “blatant violation” of the First Amendment, Due Process Clause and the Administrative Procedures Act.
The Trump administration and Harvard have been embroiled in conflict since President Donald Trump’s return to office which has resulted in the freezing of federal funds. It has also prompted many, including Rhode Island’s Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, to question possible ulterior motives by speculating over viral posts claiming that his son was rejected from the Ivy League heavyweights Harvard and Columbia.
While there has been no official confirmations that Barron Trump was rejected or even applied to Harvard or Columbia, the teenager did break with his family’s tradition of alma maters.
The youngest Trump chose instead, to attend the Stern Business School at New York University. His father studied and graduated at UPenn’s Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, graduating in May 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in economics, while all of his siblings are graduates of either University of Pennsylvania or Georgetown University.
In an interview with DailyMail last fall, Donald Trump said his son had been accepted to “a lot” of colleges, “He’s a very smart guy, and he’ll be going to Stern, the business school, which is a great school at NYU.”
According to that interview, he said his son had considered following in his footsteps at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, but ultimately chose NYU. “It’s a very high quality place. He liked it. He liked the school,” said Trump.
Barron is the youngest and only child of Donald Trump and wife Melania. He grew up in their New York City home at Trump Tower and attended Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School. He graduated from Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida last May and has since moved back to live at Trump Tower in Manhattan while attending NYU.
