Fox News anchor Jesse Watters mocked co-host Jessica Tarlov for criticizing the Trump administration’s deportation of potentially innocent individuals to El Salvador, including a “gay barber.”
Tarlov has raised concerns over the use of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, which the administration is using to deport migrants it claims are part of the Tren de Aragua gang, labeled a terrorist group by Trump.
On a recent episode of The Five, Tarlov pointed to cases where non-gang members were mistakenly deported, such as 31-year-old makeup artist Andry José Hernández Romero. According to ACLU filings, he was imprisoned in El Salvador based solely on a tattoo—a crown with the word “mom.”
Jesse Watters’ take
During a recent segment on The Five, Jesse Watters mocked co-host Jessica Tarlov over her continued criticism of the deportation of potentially innocent individuals to El Salvador.
“You’ve been talking about this gay barber and El Salvador with some stupid tattoo for weeks. Weeks, Jessica. It’s just a gay barber,” Watters said, responding to Tarlov’s concerns about Andry José Hernández Romero, a deported makeup artist.
Tarlov had expressed distrust in the El Salvadorian government’s handling of deportees, saying she feared they could be “torturing” those they receive.
Watters: You’ve been talking about this gay barber for weeks. It’s an innocent guy who got swept up in deportation and hopefully, it gets straightened out, but a lot of people in this country get arrested for things that they didn’t do, get falsely accused.. that doesn’t mean you… pic.twitter.com/pQQ5SqLzPY

Co-host Greg Gutfeld added jokingly, “He’s not into you!” as Watters went on to acknowledge that Romero might be innocent and simply “got swept up in a deportation.”
Watters continued, “A lot of people in this country, Jessica, get arrested for things that they didn’t do, get falsely accused, falsely—” before Tarlov interrupted, stating, “I’m also against racial profiling.”
“That doesn’t mean,” Watters replied, “you just stop arresting people. That doesn’t mean you stop arresting criminals because one guy was arrested who was innocent. It just means you try to do it better the next time.”
