Valerie Bertinelli’s Ex Accuses Her of ‘Backhanded Swipes’ on Social Media—The Tension Explodes

Valerie Bertinelli’s ex-boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, has accused the actress of taking “backhanded swipes” at him in her social media posts following their breakup. The 64-year-old actress, known for her roles on One Day at a Time and Hot In Cleveland, and Goodnough, who dated for about 10 months before splitting in November, have both taken to Instagram to address the situation.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Goodnough responded to messages and replies from followers who speculated that he and Bertinelli were engaging in a public “back-and-forth” through their posts. “That is not the case,” he wrote, clarifying that he had never used social media to communicate indirectly with Bertinelli or anyone else he knew personally.

“I am an adult. I am very capable of communicating openly and directly with people I know and care about,” Goodnough added, explaining that he doesn’t post on social media to get a reaction or to communicate covertly.

Goodnough also expressed that despite the split, he still holds affection for Bertinelli. “I have love for her and I always will. I want her to be happy, and it will bring me joy to see that she is,” he said, indicating that the separation was amicable on his part.

However, Goodnough did not hold back when addressing Bertinelli’s posts, which he feels have been hostile. He claimed Bertinelli has been “prone to lapsing into a place where she has been playing a one-woman tennis match thinking there is someone on the other side of the net.” He added that Bertinelli seems to read all his posts, interpreting them as slights and reacting angrily. “She lashes out angrily with a ‘response’ to things that were neither to her nor about her.”

While Goodnough clarified that his posts were never intended for Bertinelli, he claimed that her posts have led mutual followers to believe they were in conflict. He also accused Bertinelli of engaging in “backhanded swipes” that have left him disappointed, and insisted, “There is no war between us. She just won’t stop shooting.”

The public feud has led to further speculation, as Bertinelli had praised Goodnough in a recent Instagram post, saying she felt “so lucky” to have known him. However, she has since deleted the post.

Despite the drama, Goodnough remains focused on his work and has made it clear that he wants no part in the public conflict. The saga of their breakup continues to unfold publicly, with fans eagerly following every new update.
