Fran Drescher, known for her iconic role in The Nanny, has opened up about her current dating life, revealing a candid and surprising detail: she has a “rotation” of friends with benefits. Speaking at the Cinema Society screening of the new film The Friend, the 67-year-old actress shared that while she is single, she is still having fun and enjoying relationships on her own terms.

“I have a little rotation,” Drescher said when asked about her dating life, referring to her friends with benefits. She added with a laugh, “I’m Fran Drescher. What do you think?!”

Despite being single, Drescher remains close to her gay ex-husband, Peter Jacobson, whom she met at the age of 15 and later married in 1978. They divorced in 1999, and Jacobson later came out as gay. Although they are no longer married, Drescher expressed her deep love for Jacobson, calling their relationship “very close.”

“I love him, and we are very close. He fulfills a lot of needs for me,” Drescher explained. She added that, when it comes to other relationships, she feels the most she can offer is “friends with benefits.”

In 2020, she had shared with Page Six that she had just one friend with benefits and, due to her busy schedule, they saw each other only twice a month. At that time, she said, “It’s delightful and delicious, but I’ve got a big life.”

Drescher’s busy life includes working on the The Nanny musical, which has been delayed due to various personal challenges. She noted that between the actors’ strike, her father’s passing in 2024, and the recent Palisades fires that affected her home, she has had a lot to juggle. “There’s only so much I can do,” she said, adding that she has to be in the right mindset to work.

As for her dating life, Drescher continues to live by her own rules and has no qualms about her unconventional approach. “You know, I’m kind of dating myself and it’s going quite well,” she said, showing that she’s embracing her life exactly as it is.
