White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has opened up about her marriage to Nicolas Riccio, a real estate developer who is 32 years older than her.
The couple exchanged vows in January 2025, just before Donald Trump’s second inauguration as president. Leavitt, now 27, shared wedding photos on Instagram on March 12, calling their wedding day one of the happiest moments of her life.
A Love Story Rooted in Politics
Leavitt recently spoke about her relationship on The Megyn Kelly Show, describing it as “unconventional but incredibly supportive.”
She recalled first meeting Riccio in 2022 at a political event in New Hampshire while she was campaigning for a congressional seat. Although she won the Republican nomination, she ultimately lost the general election to Democrat Chris Pappas. However, that campaign brought an unexpected personal gain—it introduced her to Riccio.
Initially, their significant age gap was a concern, but Leavitt said it quickly became irrelevant. She emphasized how much she values his support, calling him her “greatest champion, best friend, and rock.”
“He has built a very successful business, and now he fully supports me as I build my career,” she said.
Marriage, Motherhood, and a Fast-Paced Career
Their relationship quickly progressed, with Riccio proposing on Christmas 2023. Just months later, on July 10, 2024, the couple welcomed their son, Nicholas Robert Riccio.
Leavitt shared her overwhelming joy about motherhood on Instagram, writing:
“It’s true when they say there’s nothing like the love you feel for your child. My heart has grown in ways I never imagined. Babies are the ultimate blessing, and I’m overflowing with gratitude for our beautiful, happy, healthy boy.”
During her interview, she also spoke about how Riccio has adjusted to the chaos of her demanding career.
“He’s the father of my child, the best dad I could ever ask for, and so supportive—especially during this hectic time in my life. I joke with him, ‘I walked into your life, and it’s been a circus ever since,’ but God bless him, because he’s completely on board.”
A Private Man Behind a Public Figure
Despite Leavitt’s high-profile career, Riccio prefers to maintain a low profile. She acknowledged this contrast in a social media post, describing him as an introvert—the complete opposite of her.
“I respect his privacy, but he’s my biggest fan, the best dad, and simply the best man I’ve ever met.”
While he chooses to stay out of the spotlight, Leavitt made it clear that he remains her strongest supporter, always encouraging her political ambitions from behind the scenes.
As she continues balancing the demands of motherhood, marriage, and politics, Leavitt remains grateful for her husband’s unwavering support and the growing family they are building together.
