In a high-profile move, Disney CEO Bob Iger, along with ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic, have asked the hosts of the popular daytime talk show “The View” to tone down its political content, particularly its criticism of President Donald Trump. The request comes as the show faces pressure from viewers and advertisers to balance politics with entertainment.
According to a report from The New York Post, Iger and Karamehmedovic held a meeting with the production team of “The View” in which they encouraged the show to focus more on entertainment topics and celebrity interviews, rather than constantly criticizing President Trump. While there is no formal ban, the request is seen as an attempt to ease the tense political climate on daytime television.
The board’s proposal was met with resistance from some of the show’s hosts. Ana Navarro, one of the hosts, reportedly spoke directly to Mr. Iger at a Disney promotional event, expressing the view that the show’s audience wanted to hear candid political discussions. However, some other hosts agreed to tone down the political content to make the show more diverse and appealing to a wider audience.
