what is going on youtube i am lamont at large today i am in rochester new york and i’m here to talk about the murder of wendy jerome it was a murder that occurred on thanksgiving night of 1984 and it was unsolved for 36 years until just last year when the killer was identified through the new technology in the dna community known as familial dna currently i am walking on denver street here in rochester new york uh this seems like an okay neighborhood you got a lot of nice houses here uh people walking with their families so

you would not think that this was a backdrop for a murder a very brutal murder that occurred but unfortunately it is so on thanksgiving evening 1984 14 year old wendy jerome had just gotten done eating dinner with her family she told her dad she was gonna go to her friend’s house to give her a birthday card and she had an 8 p.

m curfew so it was 7 p.m when she left her house her dad said yeah just you know be back in an hour at those you know times of the year it gets dark really early especially in this part of the country her friend only lived not even a half a mile away so she walked to her friend’s house she did make it there and she gave her friend the birthday card and she turned around walking on her way back home but unfortunately she never made it wendy lived about three blocks directly down that street right there so wendy did not show up for her 8 p.m

curfew 9 p.m 10 p.m rolled by 11 o’clock wendy’s mom and dad start getting very very nervous and they called the police to

report that their 14 year old daughter is missing unfortunately little do they know that 20 minutes before they were called wendy jerome was found in front of this school school number 33 dead she was found next to a dumpster and she was brutally brutally beaten her throat was slashed and after an autopsy was performed it was found that she was also sexually assaulted this was a murder that affected that family greatly can you

imagine on thanksgiving a holiday where you and your family your loved ones get together to give thanks to eat too much and drink too much and just have a good time and you know that’s the day where you put up with your family you know and to have 36 thanksgivings 36 years go by without the person responsible being brought to justice for the murder of your daughter i mean it had to uh every day skipping had to be a very very terrible day for that family now there was a dna sample that was taken during the autopsy from wendy that had

the killer’s dna and that dna sample sat for 36 years until last year september they submitted that dna and it got a hit using familial dna technology which is the same way the golden state killer got caught basically what familial dna is somehow there was a hit in the database in new york of somebody not the killer but somebody that was related to the killer basically they took the dna of this person and uh doing with the dna sample that they do they check the y chromosome aspect of the sample the why i believe is related to

the male side of a family so they get a hit on the dna and they start doing a background check of everybody that is related to this dna sample that they got in new york and a name came of one timothy lee williams a 56 year old man who was living in florida they look into his criminal background and he has quite an extensive arrest record he has assault and battery forgery fraud a dwi uh carrying a concealed weapon so this guy is no stranger to law enforcement so they go down to florida to talk to timothy williams

they obtained a dna sample from him and lo and behold it matched perfectly we found our killer after 36 years he was immediately arrested and extradited to new york to face charges of first degree murder the rape charge there is a statute of limitations on that so they weren’t able to charge him with that but they are able to charge him with the most uh important aspect of this crime which is the murder of wendy jerome i believe this is the first case in new york history where they were able to use a familial dna technology not every

state uses it i believe 12 states only participate in using that in and around the country sadly wendy’s father was not here to witness the man being arrested and brought to justice for his daughter’s vicious murder he died about 10 years ago but thankfully wendy’s mother marlene is still alive and she got a call from detectives i called that she probably thought she was never gonna get saying that we found him that’s what he told her and then they had a press conference the following week he was finally caught curly right now

he is set to go on trial for the murder so i will keep you guys up to date on what happens there he has pled not guilty so far and he did live in that area he lived about three blocks away from wendy at that time so they could place him being 20 years old living in rochester new york and this is the grave of wendy lynn jerome our little angel [Music] even though a vicious horrific murder occurred and it took a long time and believe me i’m pretty sure that family had just pretty much given up that this was just going to remain unsolved but

thankfully with the advancements of dna technology it allowed this little girl’s rapist and murderer to be brought to justice and let’s hope that justice is served upon that monster rest in peace to wendy lynn jerome and i don’t see her father buried here so i’m not really sure where he is but rest apiece to him as well and i’m sure he knows that their justice is going to be served for his daughter’s murder okay guys i will catch up with you on the next vlog god bless and peace out you
