Fox News host Greg Gutfeld, 60, surprised fans this week with the announcement that he and his wife, Elena Moussa, 42, have welcomed a baby daughter. The news came weeks after his unexpected absence from the popular show The Five, which had sparked concern among viewers.
The longtime television personality, who also hosts the late-night show Gutfeld!, shared the exciting update in a statement on The Five:
“It is with great joy that my wife Elena and I have welcomed a baby girl into the world.”
He went on to humorously mention that their daughter, Mira, was born healthy with “a real set of lungs” and playfully added that she has his wife’s “beautiful eyes” along with his “rock-hard abs.”
The Mystery Behind His Absence
Gutfeld’s statement finally put an end to weeks of speculation surrounding his sudden disappearance from Fox News. His co-host, Dana Perino, acknowledged the mystery before reading his message aloud.
“This is going to be a huge surprise for many of you,” Perino said. “You may have noticed that Greg Gutfeld hasn’t been here for the past couple of weeks, and there’s a good reason for that. He sent me this statement today, and I’m reading it as if I’m Greg.”
While Gutfeld had kept his wife’s pregnancy a secret from the public, it appears that he had been planning for this major life change for quite some time. In July, he made a significant real estate purchase in Manhattan, suggesting that he was preparing to expand his family.
A Luxurious New Home
Property records reveal that Gutfeld bought a $10.5 million loft in SoHo in July, using an LLC linked to his previous New York residence. The condo, housed in a six-story building from the early 1900s, was recently renovated into a luxury space by DXA Studio.
The 3,560-square-foot unit last sold in 2021 for $8.55 million. The building, which includes retail space on the ground floor, is also pet-friendly—an appealing feature for Gutfeld, who frequently shares social media posts about his French bulldog, Gus.
A Love Story That Began in Portugal
Gutfeld and Moussa’s relationship dates back to 2004 when they first met in Portugal. At the time, Gutfeld was an editor for Maxim UK, while Moussa worked as a photo editor for Maxim Russia.
During an interview on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Gutfeld reminisced about their first encounter, recalling that he immediately knew she was the one for him.
“I met her and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s my wife.’ I just knew it,” he said. “Then I spent three days in Portugal trying to talk to her.”
Clearly, his persistence paid off, as the couple married just five months later. Now, 20 years into their marriage, they are embracing parenthood together.
A Peaceful Retreat Upstate
When they need a break from city life, Gutfeld and Moussa retreat to their serene lake house in South Salem, New York. The couple purchased the modern wood-and-glass home in 2018, and while Gutfeld occasionally shares photos of the property, most of his social media posts focus on their beloved dog, Gus.
A History of High-End Real Estate
Before moving into their current SoHo residence, the couple lived in another luxurious home nearby. Gutfeld purchased the property in 2015 for $5.025 million and later listed it for rent at $24,000 per month. The unit, which is now off the market, was originally built in 2009 and underwent meticulous renovations.
Spanning 2,200 square feet, the loft features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a spacious private terrace. The home also includes a private elevator that opens directly into the entrance, an oversized living room with massive windows, soaring 13-foot ceilings, a gas fireplace, and custom cabinetry.
Situated in a boutique building with a classic cast-iron facade, the condo offers residents access to a 24/7 lobby attendant.
Looking Ahead
As Gutfeld and Moussa settle into life as new parents, fans continue to celebrate their joyous news. His return to television will undoubtedly bring fresh energy, as he balances his successful career with his new role as a father.
