Whoopi Goldberg has graced the famous steps at the Met Gala 2025 with a look that put a feminine spin on suiting. The co-host of The View leaned into the “Tailored for You” dress code with a tuxedo-inspired Thom Browne gown that included a white trompe l’oeil coat.

Goldberg fittingly completed her look with a top hat, which featured a netted veil. Keeping her makeup minimal, the Oscar-winning actress also added on jeweled rings and metallic finger caps in place of nails.

This marks Goldberg’s first appearance at the Met Gala since 2021, when she walked the red carpet in a voluminous purple ruffled six-layer gown by Valentino Haute Couture. She was pictured with Valentino designer Pier Paolo Piccioli and actress Carey Mulligan at the event.

After her last visit to the Met Gala, Goldberg revealed that the biggest night in fashion had taken its toll. “My body said, ‘You’re done. You’re just finished,’” she said the following morning on The View, adding, “Let me tell you what happened. At the end of the evening, which for me was 12:30, I went to pick my leg up, and my leg said, ‘We’re not moving.’” However, she went on, “It was a wonderful evening.”

Prior to her 2021 appearance, Goldberg made her Met Gala debut in 2010 when she wore all white and walked the carpet with André Leon Talley.

Goldberg’s latest Met Gala look may be her boldest yet—and it’s hardly surprising. This year, the View co-host has been more experimental with her sartorial choices than ever. In March, she attended the 2025 Oscars wearing a dramatic futuristic blue ballgown by Christian Siriano, complete with sculptural geometric shoulders. It was an unusual look for Goldberg and even showed off her rarely-seen shoulder tattoo.
