Popular podcast host Joe Rogan has publicly criticized Pennsylvania State Sen. Lindsey Williams (D) for asserting that female bodies are equivalent to male bodies.
Williams made the claim during a testimony on Wednesday at the Pennsylvania State Capitol, where she opposed the Save Women’s Sports Act.
The proposed bill aims to prohibit biological males from participating in female sports.
Williams’ statement, which she made in opposition to the legislation, was that “female bodies are just as strong and fast and capable as male bodies,” according to Fox News.
Rogan, known for his outspoken views on a variety of issues, responded to a clip of Williams’ testimony on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
Rogan expressed his disbelief at the claim, stating, “That’s so crazy to say. She just got caught up in the woke bullshit. She lives in an echo chamber probably. All the people around her are all either in academia or in some sort of left-wing fucking ideology.”
Rogan continued, pointing out the logical flaws in Williams’ argument.
“And they really believe that, and they believe that you should say that because if you’re not saying that, you’re saying women are less than men. That’s not what anybody’s saying,” he added.
“Strength and speed and athleticism is not all of life.”
The podcast host went on to emphasize the difference in physical capabilities between men and women, citing existing scientific data.
“To say that men can’t run faster than women is just — you’re denying statistics and science and all the information that we have gathered forever,” Rogan remarked.
“We have so much data. High school 15-year-old boys beat the women’s soccer team, the professional team. So shut the fuck up. This is stupid to say. This is stupid to say. It’s not transphobic, homophobic, it’s not genderphobic, it’s not misogynistic. It’s just a fact of physical nature.”
Rogan’s comments come amid ongoing debates about the inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s sports.
This issue gained national attention in 2022 when University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, a transgender woman, won the 500-yard women’s final at the NCAA championships by 1.75 seconds.
Thomas’ victory sparked controversy, with critics arguing that biological males should not compete in female categories due to physical advantages.
In response to growing concerns about fairness in women’s sports, President Donald Trump signed an executive order on February 5, 2025, that sought to bar biological males who identify as females from participating in women’s and girls’ sports across the country.
Following this executive order, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) updated its policy to prevent biological males from competing in female sports.
Trump’s administration also instructed the Department of Education to mandate that athletic associations, including the NCAA, strip transgender athletes, such as Lia Thomas, of any titles and records previously secured while competing in women’s sports.
The issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports has extended to the high school level, where several biological males have reportedly won female category events.
For example, a biological male recently won the girls’ 400-meter race at the track and field state championship in Washington state, as reported by KREM 2 News.
As the debate over transgender athletes continues, Rogan’s comments echo the growing frustration from those who believe that policies allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports undermine the fairness and integrity of female athletic competition.
The Save Women’s Sports Act, currently under consideration in Pennsylvania, is one of several state-level initiatives aimed at addressing this issue.
