Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar have been mainstays on The View for many years now. However, it seems Whoopi will take time off from the show to help out Joy in another venture. This is poised to be a big moment for fans of the two women as they join forces for a special one-night-only event.
Here is what you need to know about Whoopi’s plans to help out Joy and when they will take place.
Whoopi Goldberg Joining Joy Behar For Off-Broadway Play
Whoopi Goldberg has announced that she will share a stage with Joy Behar in an off-Broadway comedic play. This is also not something new for Joy. The play is My First Ex-Husband. Behar wrote it and debuted it in January 2025.

My First Ex-Husband features a series of monologues. Joy reveals true stories from her life and the lives of other women she interviewed. The plot says that it is about “women married to the mob, to jobs, to wealth, faith and ultimately the wrong man. Their stories are your stories…only funnier” (via Deadline).
There was also a promotional social media post about the event:
“The reunion we’ve been waiting for,” the caption read. “@whoopigoldberg will be joining us on April 30 at 2 PM alongside @joyvbehar for ONE special performance! Come on up to the UWS to see us, tickets at the link in bio. #MyFirstExHusband.”
Whoopi Goldberg joins Joy Behar during a matinee performance on Wednesday, April 30, at 2 p.m./EST.
Before Whoopi, Joy had already welcomed Susie Essman, Tovah Feldshuh, Adrienne C. Moore, and Susan Lucci to perform in the show. The main cast changes monthly. Randal Myler (Love, Janis) directs the play, which is staged at the newly renovated MMAC Theater on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Joy was in the main cast in January and returns from April 11 to April 13. She will then be back for the one-time performance with Whoopi. The two women will miss The View on that day, as well as possibly more to rehearse for the show.
Whoopi Goldberg Was Just In A Broadway Show
Of course, Whoopi Goldberg is not a stranger to the stage. She was cast as the villainous Miss Hannigan in Annie, which she took part in over the holidays. This took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and she was part of the cast for almost a month during The View holiday break.
Goldberg also appeared in a solo show on Broadway named after her in 1984. She then appeared in major plays, including A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Ma Rainey’s Black Body, Whoopi, Xanadu, and Sister Act. Of course, Whoopi also starred in the movie version of Sister Act.
