Carson Daly has shared his support for co-host Sheinelle Jones’ kids after Uche Ojeh’s death.
Carson Daly is reaching out with a message of support for Today Show co-host Sheinelle Jones and her children, following the death of her late husband, Uche Ojeh.
News broke on Friday that Ojeh, 45, had died at age 45 after several months of treatment for aggressive glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer.
Jones had been absent while dealing with her husband’s medical issues, amidst prayers from her co-stars and hosts on the morning show program.

Now, the news came through that Ojeh has passed on, leaving Jones behind, as well as their 15-year-old son Kayin and 12-year-old twins Clara and Uche Jr.
With the news, Jones’ co-hosts shared their sorrow and messages of support on the show’s broadcast.
Sheinelle Jones’s husband, Uche Ojeh, died from an aggressive form of brain cancer on May 23.
Daly, in particular, reflected on how the kids must be feeling through the lens of reflection on his own childhood, when his biological father, Jim “J.D.” Daly, died when he was five years old.
“I can’t help but think of my own life in this situation,” he said. “You think so much about these young children, your heart goes out to them.”
“My father was 46. I was 5 when my dad died. My dad was young, unexpected cancer diagnosis, passed, and think back now 45 years later, my faith in God,” he continued.
“I mean God has blessed me in my life, so here I am, the young kid, and I say eventually, God gave me two incredible fathers, incredible figures in my life and my life has been so fulfilling and I’m so blessed for that,” he added. “So I pray for their family and the kids that they’ll have that fortune as well.”
Daly wasn’t the only one who reflected on losing his dad young, as Savannah Guthrie also had a similar story.
Her father, Charles Guthire, died of a heart attack when she was 16.
“You can survive the loss of your father as young people, as we did,” she said.
Jones took time to reflect on the kind words of her cohosts following the news as well.
Reposting the segment to her Instagram account, she shared she was grateful for the support they were giving her and her family.
“Thank you, for all of your love and support,” she captioned the post.
