Trump Targets Jimmy Kimmel After CBS Cancels The Late Show – Colbert Fires Back in Fiery Response

In a surprising and combative post, former President Donald Trump has set his sights on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! following the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by CBS. Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that Kimmel is “next to go” in what he referred to as the “untalented Late Night Sweepstakes,” adding that he hopes his influence played a role in Colbert’s downfall.

The word is, and It's a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone. These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. Trump’s post on Tuesday stirred the late-night scene, as he attacked Kimmel and Colbert, calling them “people with absolutely NO TALENT” who were overpaid for “destroying what used to be GREAT Television.” He continued, “It’s really good to see them go,” even making a bold claim about his involvement in the late-night shakeup.

On Thursday, CBS made the announcement that The Late Show would be canceled due to “financial reasons.” A statement from CBS read, “This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content, or other matters happening at Paramount.” The network’s explanation did little to quell the growing speculation that the decision could be linked to Colbert’s outspoken political views.

By Friday, Trump was once again taking jabs at both Colbert and Kimmel. On Truth Social, Trump gleefully shared, “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!” He also took a swipe at Greg Gutfeld, host of Gutfeld!, on Fox News, saying that Gutfeld “is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Colbert Fires Back: “Go [Expletive] Yourself”

Not one to back down, Colbert responded to Trump’s remarks during his Late Show monologue on Monday. With his usual sharp wit, Colbert told Trump to “go [expletive] yourself,” delivering the line with a smile. Colbert also referred to himself as a “martyr” following the cancellation of his show and couldn’t resist adding a cheeky remark aimed at Kimmel.

“Kimmel, I am the martyr,” Colbert said. “There’s only room for one on this cross. And the view is fantastic from up here. I can see your house.”

Colbert, never shy about his disdain for Trump, also promised to intensify his criticisms as his time on CBS winds down. “They made one mistake, they left me alive. For the next 10 months, the gloves are off,” he declared, hinting at a full-throttle political attack in the final stretch of his tenure on The Late Show.

Late-Night Drama Continues to Unfold

With Trump’s pointed remarks and Colbert’s defiant response, the cancellation of The Late Show has taken a dramatic turn. Whether or not the cancellation was truly a financial decision, as CBS maintains, or a reaction to Colbert’s outspoken political commentary remains to be seen. But the drama surrounding Colbert, Kimmel, and the late-night wars shows no sign of slowing down.

As Colbert prepares for the end of his tenure on CBS, the question remains: Will this late-night clash escalate further? The rivalry between Trump and Colbert seems to be heating up, and with Kimmel potentially in the crosshairs next, the late-night landscape is bound to be filled with even more fireworks in the months to come.

Stay tuned as the drama unfolds—this late-night showdown is far from over.
