Karoline Leavitt’s age and maturity became a shock to many when she assumed the role of press secretary, but her husband’s age might be even more of a doozy.

After President Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration, Karoline took the podium for her first White House press conference briefing under the new administration on Jan. 28. She became the youngest person ever to serve in that position at just age 27. Her youth came as a surprise to viewers who turned into the conversation as they mistakenly thought she was older.

“Just watched a few minutes of the White House press briefing and the new press secretary Karoline Leavitt is 27 years old (she looks 40) and is the youngest to hold the spot. Can’t lie, she’s sharp but very snarky and knows how to BS around a question too,” On X, formerly known as Twitter, said one person. However, the age of her husband – Nicholas Riccio – who is 32 years her senior.

Karoline and Nicholas

Karoline previously explained that Nicholas, 59, isn’t huge on social media when she posted a few snaps on him. Plus, according to the Daily Mail, she confessed they met through “a mutual friend at a political function.” Their relationship, which is kept mostly private, took a step forward in 2023 when she made a post on Christmas confirming their engagement. She wrote: “I get to marry the man of my dreams. I feel SO overwhelmingly BLESSED. Thank you God.”

Karoline and Nicholas married each other in secret before welcoming their first son, Niko, in July 2024. On social media, people questioned where Nicholas was when she revealed the news of their child. “He’s right by our side!” she reassured, but fans weren’t truly convinced.

She further wrote: “He just hates social media and I respect that. He doesn’t have social media and he’s an introvert (complete opposite of me). I respect his privacy on here – but he’s my number one fan, the best dad, and just the best man I’ve ever met.”

As for Nicholas’ own life, he was a clear success story as he previously explained he grew up poor. He told a local newspaper in 2005: “When I was 19 or 20, I would call my buddies to go over their houses to watch a game just so I could take a shower.”
