“You were?” Behar asked in shock after Griffin said she helped with “planning leading up to air strikes” at the Pentagon while working for Trump, as the stars slammed Pete Hegseth.

The fictional Whoopi Goldberg War Room™ is always on full alert at The View‘s Hot Topics table, but longtime panelist Joy Behar was shocked to learn that her cohost and former Donald Trump associate Alyssa Farah Griffin was involved in real-life military operations during her time at the White House.

Amid a Tuesday morning discussion on the talk show, the colleagues broke down a new scandal involving Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth texting war plans for military strikes in Yemen “to a group chat in a secure messaging app that included the editor-in-chief for The Atlantic,” per the Associated Press.

After Sunny Hostin observed that, in her estimation, the Atlantic journalist, Jeffrey Goldberg, “handled the national security information more appropriately than the people tasked with this information” by not leaking specifics of the group chat he was included on, Griffin slammed Hegseth for his careless actions.

Griffin, who previously worked for Trump’s communications team during his first term at the White House before resigning and subsequently speaking out against him, gave “credit to Goldberg for not responding with the facepalm emoji,” before filling her colleagues in on “how this is supposed to work” in proper practice.

“When I was in the Pentagon, I was involved with planning leading up to air strikes a number of times. What happens is, all the…” she said, before Behar cut in to ask, “You were?”

Griffin quickly responded, “Yes!” with a smile, while Sara Haines pointed out that Behar is shocked “every time” she learns of the depths of Griffin’s political experience.

“She was in on war plans! I never heard that before,” Behar said, with a shocked expression on her face.

Griffin carried on, recounting that, when involving military operations, “everyone would be in a classified, secure location,” even without their government devices alongside them.

“In the off chance you’re not near the Pentagon or State Department, everyone has what’s called a SCIF [Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility] in their home” so that they can legally and safely discuss sensitive information.

In response to the scandal, Hegseth told reporters, “Nobody was texting war plans and that’s all I have to say about that,” per the AP.
