Despite the gravity of the news, Timpf leaned into humor—her signature way of coping with the unimaginable—describing the diagnosis as “just, like, a little bit of cancer.” She detailed how the day began with overdue pregnancy symptoms and ended with spontaneous labor, all while trying to process a recommendation for a double mastectomy.

“By the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my cancer out,” she wrote. “I even asked if I could get a copy of my tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to the baby’s.”

Felix: A Baby Who May Have Saved Her Life

Timpf gave birth to her son, Felix, not long after hearing the diagnosis. She later joked that her baby might have “saved [her] life,” as her pregnancy indirectly led to the early detection of her cancer. The irony wasn’t lost on her, and in typical Kat fashion, she infused the experience with self-deprecating humor:

“I woke up more-than-a-week-past-due pregnant, completely consumed by getting the baby out… by the middle of the night, I was crawling around on the floor in spontaneous labor, before heading to the hospital.”

A Raw Recovery and a Brave New Chapter

Following the birth, Timpf underwent a double mastectomy and shared an honest and intimate update on social media. Instead of shielding the pain, she chose to show her scars, both literal and emotional.

“I’m learning to celebrate everything I can,” she said. “I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom.”

Her gratitude, despite the whirlwind of labor, diagnosis, and surgery, has become a guiding light for many fans and fellow survivors.

“I expected that I wouldn’t get pregnant, especially not naturally… It was considered a ‘geriatric pregnancy’ at 35. I expected that I’d probably miscarry.”

Her fears were compounded by grief. Kat lost her mother in 2014, and the idea of becoming a mother herself, without her own mom to lean on, stirred a profound sense of sadness.

“Still, it’s felt cruel, at times disorienting, and a bit unfair to have to try and figure out how to be a mother when I can hardly remember what it’s like to have one.”

Despite the heartbreak, she embraced the pregnancy—and the chaos that came with it. She documented it with humor, from being on crutches with a stress fracture to hosting an “Emo/Pop Punk Baby Shower” in December 2024.

Marriage, Love, and Resilience

Timpf met Cameron Friscia on the dating app Raya, and their relationship evolved into something she once thought she’d never believe in: real love and stability. In May 2021, the couple wed in a unique ceremony officiated by Fox Business’ Lisa Kennedy Montgomery. Timpf wore a gown from Kleinfeld’s, and the altar was adorned with a neon sign that read “’Til Death”—a fitting nod to her irreverent style.

Reflecting on their marriage, Timpf said:

“When I fell in love with Cam, I felt more free than I ever have in my entire life… He has changed me for the better and it’s the best feeling in the world.”

She even shared that she now envisions something she once swore she didn’t want: having children. And now, she has one—whom she describes as “ruling” in every way.

Looking Forward with Hope and Humor

Timpf is now on maternity leave and adjusting to life as both a new mom and a cancer survivor. Through it all, she continues to advocate for honesty in life’s messiest moments—blending dark humor with unfiltered truth.

“People who work at hospitals make excellent audiences for dark humor,” she joked.
