Karoline Leavitt Opens Up on 32-Year Age Gap with Husband: ‘It’s Atypical, But Incredible’

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently addressed the significant 32-year age difference between her and husband Nicholas Riccio, openly acknowledging that their relationship is “very atypical” but also “incredible.”

Leavitt, 27, the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history, shared candid insights about her marriage to Riccio, a 59-year-old successful real estate developer, during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show podcast last month.

“It’s a very atypical love story,” Leavitt confessed, “but he’s incredible.”

Her comments coincided with a series of intimate wedding photos she recently shared on Instagram, writing, “Finally found some time to post a few of my favorite pictures from one of my favorite days!” The posts offered an affectionate glimpse into their personal life, capturing joyful moments from their January 2023 wedding.

From Political Event to Personal Love Story

Leavitt and Riccio first crossed paths in 2022, during Leavitt’s campaign for Congress in New Hampshire. Despite ultimately losing the race to Democrat Chris Pappas, Leavitt found a different kind of victory—falling in love with the man who would later become her husband.

“A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant owned by Nicholas in New Hampshire and invited him,” Leavitt recalled. “I was speaking at the event, we met, initially became friends—and then we fell in love.”

The couple’s whirlwind romance led to their marriage in early 2023. A little over a year later, in July 2024, they celebrated another joyous milestone with the birth of their son, Nicholas Robert Riccio, affectionately called Niko.

Support and Stability Amid Political Chaos

Leavitt emphasized how her husband has been a source of strength and encouragement, particularly during the tumultuous demands of her high-profile career in politics.

“He is my greatest supporter, he’s my best friend, and he’s my rock,” she said during the podcast interview. “Nicholas has built a highly successful business himself, and now he’s fully supportive of my career and my ambitions.”

Indeed, Riccio’s steadfast support was never more crucial than after the shocking assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in July 2024. This unexpected crisis prompted Leavitt to cut her maternity leave short and return to her role on Trump’s presidential campaign.

“I looked at my husband and said, ‘Looks like I’m going back to work,’” she told The Conservateur in October 2024, highlighting Riccio’s unwavering support during an extremely challenging period.

Embracing Their Unconventional Romance

Despite the unconventional nature of their relationship—and the significant age gap that initially raised some eyebrows—the couple remains deeply committed and happy. Leavitt proudly shares their journey on social media, allowing followers to see the genuine bond and love between them.

Their relationship has sparked considerable curiosity, but Leavitt remains open, transparent, and unapologetic about the love she shares with Riccio. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that love can flourish regardless of societal expectations or age differences, as long as mutual support, respect, and understanding form the foundation.

Karoline Leavitt continues to inspire many young women, not only through her groundbreaking career achievements but also by confidently embracing her unique personal journey and the love she’s found along the way.
