A Relationship Built on Shared Passion for Basketball

Clark shared a series of black-and-white photos in which the couple can be seen sharing a loving embrace, showcasing the chemistry they have built over the years.

“Another year with my favorite person 🙂 I’m so thankful for you,” Clark captioned the post, reflecting on their journey together. The sweet tribute was met with immediate love from their circle, with teammates past and present joining in the celebration.

“Favs,” wrote Clark’s current teammate, Lexie Hull, accompanied by two heart emojis. Former Hawkeye player Gabbie Marshall also chimed in, writing, “CUTEST EVER!!!!” Iowa junior Taylor McCabe playfully referred to the couple as “mom and dad omg,” while former player Jada Gyamfi offered her well-wishes, calling them “my favorite parents i love you guys.”

McCaffery’s Heartfelt Anniversary Post

Not to be outdone, McCaffery also shared a touching tribute to his girlfriend on his Instagram. He posted another black-and-white photo of the two holding hands, with the caption: “2 years keep being u.” The simplicity and sincerity of his message conveyed his deep affection for Clark and their journey together.

The couple first started dating in April of 2023 while both were playing basketball at the University of Iowa. Their bond, built on mutual respect and a shared passion for basketball, has continued to thrive despite their busy professional careers.

Busy Offseasons and Exciting Career Moves

The past few weeks have been eventful for Clark. In addition to celebrating her anniversary, Clark made a guest appearance at the Pacers-Bucks playoff game and took part in teammate Lexie Hull’s engagement celebration. Despite the Indiana Fever’s hectic schedule, Clark remains grounded, continuing to enjoy her time with loved ones and fans alike.

Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has had an exciting offseason of his own. After graduating from Iowa in 2023, McCaffery joined the Indiana Pacers as a member of their staff. However, he left the team in September of 2024 to take on an assistant coaching role with the Butler University men’s basketball team. This transition has added a new chapter to his basketball career, and Clark couldn’t be more thrilled for him.

“I’m super excited for him, obviously his basketball knowledge is pretty good,” Clark said, speaking to reporters following a Fever practice. “It makes it fun when you can bounce ideas off each other. He worked super hard for that. It’ll be fun to go to those games. I love college basketball, obviously he’s been around it his whole life and really invested a lot into it. I think it’ll be fun, give me something to do all throughout the offseason.”

A Supportive Partnership

Despite McCaffery’s shift in career trajectory, Clark emphasized that their relationship remains strong, with McCaffery continuing to offer support in her WNBA endeavors. She shared that they still find time to enjoy their shared passion for basketball, including late-night shooting sessions and friendly competitions.

“That’s definitely something we love, coming in here, shooting late at night or having some shooting competitions,” Clark said. “It gets a little heated – I definitely outshoot him way more than he outshoots me – but he tries to think otherwise.”

Clark also highlighted McCaffery’s unwavering support for her and her career, noting that his passion for basketball and commitment to her success is something she deeply appreciates. “I think more than anything, he’s just supportive and lets me do my thing,” Clark added. “That’s something I really appreciate about him, is just his support and his passion for basketball.”

A Love Built on Respect and Shared Passion

Caitlin Clark and Connor McCaffery’s relationship is a shining example of how two individuals can support each other’s careers while also growing together in their shared love for basketball. Their connection, built on mutual respect, encouragement, and a love for the game, continues to inspire fans who look up to them not only as athletes but as role models in both their personal and professional lives.

As the couple celebrates their two-year anniversary, it’s clear that their bond will continue to grow as they navigate their respective careers and the future of basketball together. Fans are eagerly watching their journey, excited to see how both Clark and McCaffery continue to support one another, on and off the court.
