Their relationship blossomed, despite the physical distance—Amy in Chicago and Bret stationed in Washington, D.C. Determined to make things work, Bret frequently traveled long distances to spend weekends with Amy, strengthening their connection with each visit.

Just one year later, during Thanksgiving weekend in 2003, Bret orchestrated a heartfelt proposal surrounded by family. Amy eagerly accepted, and the couple exchanged vows on October 9, 2004, exactly two years after their unforgettable first date.
