Just one year later, during Thanksgiving weekend in 2003, Bret orchestrated a heartfelt proposal surrounded by family. Amy eagerly accepted, and the couple exchanged vows on October 9, 2004, exactly two years after their unforgettable first date.

In June 2007, the couple welcomed their first child, Paul Francis Baier, named lovingly after Amy’s father. Yet, within hours of Paul’s birth, the Baiers’ happiness was clouded by anxiety as doctors revealed devastating news: Paul was born with five congenital heart defects.
