Dr. Oz’s Daughter Shares Update on Granddaughter, 11, Who Fainted During Trump Speech at White House Ceremony

The update comes two days after Dr. Oz’s swearing-in ceremony, where his granddaughter Philomena fainted

Two days after Dr. Mehmet Oz’s 11-year-old granddaughter fainted during his swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office, her mom shared a health update.

On Sunday, April 20, Daphne Oz — one of The Dr. Oz Show alum’s four kids with wife Lisa Oz — shared an Instagram post recounting her experience at the White House, where she watched her dad sworn in as President Donald Trump’s administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Friday, April 18.

Daphne, 39, attended the ceremony with husband John Jovanovic, their son Jovan and one of their daughters, Philomena “Philo” Bijou. In her post, she shared photos of the family following the ceremony — which made headlines after it was disrupted by Philomena fainting during Trump’s remarks — and assured everyone that Philomena “bounced right back.”

“Thank you to everyone checking in on Philo after her big day in the Oval Office 🙏❤️,” Daphne wrote in part. “We are so grateful it was nothing serious, and she bounced right back — with a trip for some delicious Navy Mess soft serve for good measure!! 🍦.”

Philomena could be seen smiling alongside her family throughout the post, which included photos from inside and outside the ceremony, including a mother-daughter selfie with Daphne.

The mom of four — who shares two other daughters, Giovanna Ines and Domenica Celine, with Jovanovic — also thanked the White House team and medical staff, as well as Trump, 78, who she said “went out of his way to make both our children feel comfortable in a stressful situation.”

“A more than memorable day at the White House for all of us!!” she declared, before turning her attention to her father, who was sworn in by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“I am so proud our family could be with my father @DrOz as he was sworn in as CMS Administrator with the task of helping all Americans access the health we deserve,” she wrote in part. “I am always in awe of the myriad ways he has found to truly help and save lives, first as a cardio thoracic surgeon, then on his tv show which for many became an invaluable resource in helping us become experts in our own bodies and a part of the conversation.”

“Love you, Dad! ❤️,” she concluded the post.

Along with Daphne and her family, Oz was also joined by wife Lisa, son Oliver, and daughters Arabella and Zoe for the ceremony, which turned to chaos when, as Trump gave some remarks on Oz’s nomination, someone in the room — later identified as Philomena — collapsed.

In footage of the event, one of Oz’s daughters could be heard seemingly saying, “Philo fainted, Philo fainted. Dad, go!” Oz then went over to check on Philomena before returning to stand beside the president. Meanwhile, aides ushered people from the room, saying, “Everybody out!” and telling the press to “get out right now.”

Though the ceremony footage did not capture the incident itself, it did show Daphne and Oliver eventually walking Philomena, who appeared to be ill, out of the room, before the cameras cut out.

In a statement to PEOPLE after the incident, a White House spokesperson said, “A minor family member fainted during Dr. Oz’s swearing in ceremony in the Oval Office. We are happy to say she is okay.”
