A surprise performance interrupted Andre Rieu’s show at the Hydro.

André Rieu, best known as the founder of the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra, was performing in Glasgow when one-hit wonders Los del Río took to the stage.

The Spanish band, who rose to fame in the 90s with their hit Macarena, delighted the audience with a performance of their classic track. They joined the violinist on stage. Videos quickly circulated on social media, showing the audience’s shock and delight at the surprise performance.

One fan commented on a video posted on TikTok, saying: “You never know what you’ll get when you go to see him.”

Another added: “It was a great concert, Absolutley loved it.”

Macarena initially gained popularity in Spain before becoming a worldwide hit following a remix by Miami-based producers the Bayside Boys and was named Greatest One Hit Wonder of all time in 2002.

A dance craze surrounding the song helped it become a cultural phenomenon throughout the latter half of 1996 and early 1997.
